Five top tips for claims and evidence

  1. Bookmark our Funding Handbook and guidance website. They contain all the information you need to support your decision-making and help you gather good-quality evidence.

  2. Attach clear, valid evidence such as receipts, invoices or contracts directly related to the claim and attach any communications collateral produced. Good-quality evidence supports a good-quality claim, speeds up the review and payment process, and increases transparency for your constituents.

  3. Submit your claim no later than 90 days after incurring the cost. Check that the dates, amounts and names on receipts and other evidence match with your spend.

  4. Explain the reason for each cost in the description box on IPSA Online. This only applies to reimbursement claims. Avoid vague or incomplete descriptions as these can cause delays or lead to your claim being returned for more information. Do not include personal details like your name or home address.

  5. Check whether the purchase you want to make aligns with our principles before deciding to spend out of your IPSA budget. IPSA’s core principles are value for money, integrity, parliamentary purpose and accountability.
