Data publication – 16 March 2023

Next week we will be publishing details of MPs’ business costs for October and November 2022 as part of our routine publication of data every two months.

You can now access the latest batch of your business costs using the Publication Data service.

Security transition

Last week, Mr Speaker wrote to Members of Parliament to update them on security issues.

Following the tragic murder of Sir David Amess, a review recommended that the budget for MPs’ physical security be brought in-house, transferring it from IPSA to the Parliamentary Security Department.

This transfer will happen from April 2023. This change is intended to improve efficiency by streamlining the process for MPs.

For most MPs, this change will not affect how to access the security measures and any associated administration. MSSS (the Members’ Security Support Service) will continue to work in the same way with MPs and the suppliers, ADT and Mitie, but behind the scenes, the funding will now come from PSD instead of IPSA.

For some MPs, who have used their own security supplier and claim that expense directly from IPSA, this change will affect how you claim for security costs as you will no longer be able to use the IPSA system and budget.

PSD will contact you in the coming weeks with details on how to claim security expenditure directly from PSD, and details of the policy.

If you have any questions please contact IPSA, at the details below, or the MSSS on 020 7219 2244 or by email to safe@parliament.uk.
